4 Things To Do When Taking A Self-Care Day

Self-care is probably one of the most vital and important parts of your day. Ideally, you should do something for yourself every day to recharge your batteries. But unfortunately, we can’t always take a few minutes to ourselves. Life tends to get in the way. I know it does for me. Emma absorbs a lot of my time and while she’s awake, I’m not always able to do things for myself. So every now and then, I invoke a self-care day. I make sure she’s not home for a day and take that time to have some me-time. And guys… I highly recommend it.

Here are 4 things to do when taking a much needed self-care day.

Take a bath (bath-bomb optional)

Nothing is more relaxing than taking a nice, warm bath. So start or end your day with a long, relaxing bath. Light those candles, get a glass of wine and pour some essential oils or even a bath-bomb in the tub and let your worries melt away.

Exercise

Another way to start the day is with some exercise. Get those endorphins going! Whether it’s running through the neighborhood or yoga in the comfort of your living room, exercise is proven to make yourself feel better.

Read your favorite book

I know, I know. Your towering TBR may never forgive you, but sometimes it’s good to go back to an old favorite and remind yourself why you love books to begin with. When you’re a blogger, it’s easy to get lost in that mountain of deadlines looming on the horizon. But sometimes you just need to take a break and pick up an old favorite. I promise you it’ll feel like reuniting with a long lost friend.

Watch that one show/movie that always makes you smile

Had enough of reading? No worries! Why don’t you start Netflix up and watch that show or movie that always manages to make you smile? When I’m having a bad day, I never hesitate to put on an episode of one of my favorite shows. Because it’s comforting and it’s guaranteed to make me laugh. And laughing is always good. Netflix and chill, people. It’s a saying for a reason.
